Search efforts on the water of Lake Tahoe have been suspended due to declining weather conditions. Searchers were able to complete a search of the most probable location prior to suspension. A limited and continuous search will continue in an effort to locate the missing kayaker.

On 6-8-17 at 9:15 A.M. Pham Dan Vu Thanh (Dan) called a friend to tell him he was going kayaking and camping in the Lester Beach area. As of 6:15 P.M. Dan had not been heard from again.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office began an initial investigation and search effort to locate Dan. The search was suspended at 12:00 P.M. that night.
Search efforts resumed at 6:00 A.M. this morning. Resources from The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Coast Guard, State Parks and other Lake Tahoe marine agencies are actively searching the area.
Pham Dan Vu Thanh (Dan) is described as:
Filipino Male Adult 5’7″ 150 pds. muscular build
Short dark hair multiple tattoos on shoulder and chest
Forest green kayak 10′ long unknown backpack or life jacket

On 06/6/17 at about 4:30 PM a white male parked a newer white Ford F150 in front of the Golden One Credit Union in Town Center.  A white male exited the vehicle wearing a hard hat, sunglasses, full respirator and reflective green vest.  The male entered the bank with a gun and then for an unknown reason quickly left the building.

A few minutes later, the white F150 parked in front of the Bank of America in the La Borgata shopping center in El Dorado Hills.  The same white male exited the vehicle, wearing the same disguise, and entered the bank. The male brandished a firearm and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the teller.  The suspect exited the building and fled in his awaiting vehicle.
