Monday night, August 6, 2018, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a home invasion in the area of Indian Rock Road in Cool, Ca. The original caller said an unknown man had entered their residence and began damaging the inside. The caller was able to safely escape with his wife and young child to a neighbor’s residence.

Minutes later, there was a second 911 call from a neighboring residence reporting the same intruder had broken into their locked screened porch. The intruder then shattered a glass door to the home and attempted entry as he was being ordered by the homeowner to leave. The homeowner, fearing for the safety of his family, fired multiple rounds at the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds and is expected to survive.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office needs assistance in locating a missing person, Michael “Mike” Panell. Mike was last seen on 7/30/18 at an address on Maric Road in El Dorado, CA. He is believed to have left on foot and left all of his belongings, to include his wallet, cell phone and vehicle behind. Mike has made suicidal statements to family members prior to his disappearance and there is concern he may be a danger to himself.

El Dorado County Deputies have searched the area and so far have been unsuccessful in locating him. Mike has a residence on Rockingham Drive in Sacramento, which has been checked and Mike was not located there.
