Lake Tahoe Boating Fatality

On June 25th, 2016, at 11:35 am, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an apparent drowning in the El Dorado County portion of Lake Tahoe, East of Meeks Bay.  The reporting party had found an unresponsive man in the water with an unoccupied personal watercraft drifting nearby.  The reporting party was transporting the victim to the Cave Rock boat ramp for medical treatment.

A boating accident investigation was immediately started, and as the investigation was underway, Boat Patrol Deputies learned the man had been pronounced dead by paramedics at the Cave Rock boat ramp.

At this time there is an active accident investigation to determine if the operation of the personal watercraft was the cause of the man’s death.  Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.
