On Tuesday September 15, 2015, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) in conjunction with CodeRED sent out over 100,000 automated phone calls to residences and businesses in El Dorado County encouraging them to register for emergency notifications at the El Dorado County website http://ready.edso.org. The CodeRED notification system will only be used by public safety officials during emergencies to disseminate critical information to the citizens of El Dorado County – part of our new and updated Reverse 911 system.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services encourages all residents to enroll to receive emergency alerts through CodeRED. Those who have already enrolled to receive CodeRED notifications but have recently moved or changed telephone numbers are encouraged to visit the El Dorado County website http://ready.edso.org and click on the CodeRED logo to update their contact information.
Residences that do not have computer access are encouraged to contact family or friends to assist them in registering, or contact the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services directly at 530-621-5895 for assistance. We are experiencing a high volume of calls today, so please leave us a message. We will call you back as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.
In addition to receiving CodeRED alerts through voice, text messages and emails, residents can also download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app on the App Store and Google Play. The app will send free push notifications of emergency, community and missing person alerts to mobile subscribers within a warning area. Alerts are initiated by El Dorado County as well as public safety officials throughout North America.
