On December 16, 2018, The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an accidental shooting at a residence on Swansboro Road. The caller stated that he had accidentally discharged his firearm and shot his girlfriend in the back.

Deputies arrived and located a female on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to her back, near the shoulder. The female was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The 911 caller was identified as Michael Spiller, a 38 year old from Placerville. He was detained and later interviewed by detectives. Upon completion of the interview, Michael was arrested for attempted murder and booked into the El Dorado County Jail.

Identification of the female victim will not be released at this time.
