Blood Drive in Memory of Deputy Brian Ishmael

WHAT: The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office will host a blood drive in memory of Deputy Brian Ishmael.  Deputy Ishmael was killed in the line of duty on October 23, 2019, after responding to a call for service. Deputy Ishmael, who was born in Placerville, served with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office for 4 years and prior to that served with Placerville Police Department.

Blood drive walk-ins are welcome, but those with appointments will receive priority in line. To schedule an online appointment, go to www.donors.vitalant.org and click Make an Appointment and choose Blood Drive Code then use the code SMFE332 then choose Find Location. Select LOG IN (or donate as a guest – this feature is only for first time donors scheduling an appointment for the first time online).

Donors can complete their health history questionnaire on the day of the blood drive on a computer or Smartphone.  Go to vitalant.org\health and follow the instructions.  Enter your zip code or choose BloodSource as the location. Using a computer, you will need to print and bring your QR code.  If you’re using a Smartphone take a screenshot of the QR code, or save your QR code as a PDF.  Make sure you use your legal name (as noted on your legal I.D. card).  For the date of birth choose year first, then month and then date. Also use Google Chrome for Android phones.

ELIGIBILITY:    Whole blood donors must be at least 16 years old and there is no upper age limit for donating blood.  16-year old’s must have a signed Vitalant parental consent form available online at www.vitalant.org.  Donors must, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in good general health and bring a photo I.D. Donors should eat well and drink plenty of water prior to donation.  Other donation types have specific eligibility criteria.
