School Lockdown

Today at 0810hrs the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person suspected of a recent theft, to include firearms, near Union Mine High School. The alleged theft occurred in Sacramento County. A Sheriff’s School Resource Officer (SRO) placed Union Mine High School and Charles Brown Education Center in lockdown as a precaution. Deputies located the suspect in a vehicle in the 6000 block of Pollock Avenue in El Dorado and a 14 year-old male juvenile was taken into custody. The schools were released from lockdown at about 0830hrs.
The juvenile that was taken into custody is a student at Union Mine High School. He was not on the school grounds at any time today. No firearms were located on him or in the vehicle. The vehicle however was reported as stolen out of Wilton, California.

Purse Thief Caught by Shoppers at WalMart

At 1227 PM today, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Central Dispatch received a call from WalMart on Missouri Flat Road of a theft in progress. Stolen was an elderly woman’s purse that had been left in her shopping cart while she and her husband were near-by. The suspect allegedly grabbed the purse from the shopping cart and ran.
When the suspect fled, the couple started yelling and other patrons chased the suspect through the store. In the area of the Garden Center, one citizen tackled the suspect and held him down until deputies arrived. Some photos of what occurred were posted on Facebook.
