Arrest for Human Trafficking

On July 13, 2020, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was called regarding two girls who had run away from a local group home and had been picked up by an unknown person. The staff initially followed the vehicle and provided a description. Deputies set up in numerous locations throughout the county and notified neighboring agencies.

About an hour later, the vehicle was located on Mormon Emigrant Trail by Sheriff’s Deputies. The girls were safely rescued and the driver, 29-year-old Edward Gray of Tracy, Ca, was arrested without incident. Edward has been booked into EDC Jail for human trafficking, kidnapping under the age of 14, pimping, pandering and criminal threats. His bail is currently set at $5.7 million.

Small Plane Crashes in South Lake Tahoe

Today at 3:23pm, El Dorado County Sheriff Deputies responded to the report of a small plane that crashed in the community of Meyers in the South Lake Tahoe Basin.  When Deputies arrived, they found a single engine plane crumpled and upside down in a wooded area.  There were two people on board the plane.  One person was deceased and the other was taken to Renown Hospital in Reno and their condition in unknown.  El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is in communication with the FAA and NTSB who will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.  The identity of those on board the plane will not be released until their identity is confirmed and family have been notified.
