EDSO Response to Curfew Order

On November 19, 2020, The California Department of Public Health issued a curfew order for the State of California.  The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is aware and will not be enforcing this curfew order.

El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office deputies will not be determining compliance with, or enforcing the compliance of, any health order related to this curfew.  The Sheriff’s Office will not prevent Thanksgiving activities, maximum occupancies, or mask wearing mandates at social gatherings within the County of El Dorado.  Calls received by The Sheriff’s Office regarding enforcement of any COVID related  orders will be referred to the El Dorado County Department of Public Health at 530-621-6100. 

We will still address reports of criminal activity related to public safety and our El Dorado County citizens.  The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office will continue to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. 

Shooting Investigation

On 11-16-2020 at around 2053 hours, EDSO responded to Panorama Mobile Home Park in Placerville regarding shots fired into an inhabited home. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the occupants. The unknown suspect(s) are believed to have left the area in a vehicle in an unknown direction. EDSO Detectives are searching the area for clues or video surveillance which may help identify the suspect(s) or assist with this investigation.

If you live in the area and have video surveillance, please check it to see if there is anything which could be useful for our investigation. There is no additional information in this case at this time.

Homicide Investigation

On Sunday evening, November 1, 2020, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was called regarding a homicide investigation in the southern portion of El Dorado County near Amador County. Based on the location, Amador County Sheriff’s Office initially responded and assisted after it was determined the call occurred in El Dorado County.

The incident involved two adult men who were involved in a verbal dispute which escalated into a shooting. One man was transported to UC Davis for a gunshot wound and the other man was pronounced deceased on scene. Both men have been positively identified and there are no outstanding suspects or involved parties.

Identification for the deceased man will not be released until next of kin notifications are completed. We will not be releasing the identity of the injured man until further investigation is completed.
