Ponderosa High School Student Arrested

For Immediate Release

Sergeant Tasha Thompson

On January 19, 2017, at approximately 0800 hours, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was notified a student at Ponderosa High School had been detained for bringing a loaded firearm onto campus.  Upon deputies arrival at the school, they placed the student under arrest for the possession of the firearm.   The investigation is ongoing and more details will follow.  These types of calls are always taken very seriously and the safety of students and staff is our priority.

During the course of this investigation a homicide victim was discovered at the juvenile’s residence in Shingle Springs.  At this point in the investigation we do not believe there are any safety concerns to the student body or staff at any of the El Dorado County Schools.  The investigation is still active and ongoing at the time of this release.  We will provide additional updates when they become available.

A 16 year old male juvenile has been arrested for the homicide of a relative that was discovered today at a residence on Neef Lane in Shingle Springs.  It is believed the juvenile acted alone and there are no outstanding suspects.  The 16 year old will be booked into juvenile hall for murder.  The investigation is still active at this time.
