In Custody Death Investigation

Sergeant Anthony Prencipe

On January 4, 2019, at 3:38 am, Correctional Officers working in the El Dorado County Jail found inmate Anthony Marino unresponsive. Lifesaving efforts were made by Correctional Officers and then Medical staff. Marino was pronounced deceased at 4:02 am.

The Sheriff’s Office initiated the Critical Incident Protocol, which is common with any in custody incidents of this nature. This protocol activates a multi-agency investigative team comprised of Sheriff’s Office Detectives, District Attorney Investigators, CHP Investigators, South Lake Tahoe PD Detectives and Placerville PD Detectives. The goal is a complete and impartial investigation into the incident.

Cause of death for Marino is under investigation by the Critical Incident Protocol team and by El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit. Next of kin notifications for Marino have been completed.

Bank Robbery in EDH

On January 2, 2019, at about 1:43 PM, this man entered the US Bank located at 1020 White Rock Road in El Dorado Hills, Ca. The suspect demanded money and then left in an unknown direction. The below images of the suspect were provided by the bank surveillance system.

The suspect is a white male adult, late 20’s, about 5’9″ tall with a thin build. He had brown hair and a thin brown mustache. No threats were made during the robbery and no firearm was used or seen.

The final picture, of a white sedan, is from a bank robbery which occurred a few months ago in Yuba City with similar circumstances. This vehicle has not yet been linked to this robbery, but it may assist in someone recognizing this suspect.
