On July 13, 2018, at approximately 1318 hours, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in Camino. Multiple people called in what they believed to be numerous gunshots in the area after hearing an argument.

Through an investigation involving EDSO deputies and detectives, it was determined that James Patterson, of Camino, had been involved in a verbal and physical argument with two people. As the two people drove away from James, he retrieved a firearm and shot at their vehicle.

EDSO attempted to contact James at his home and he refused to answer. Numerous attempts were made contact James by patrol deputies and SWAT.  When James continuously refused to answer, chemical munitions were later deployed and James exited his house without incident.

James Patterson was arrested for multiple charges, including 245(a)(2) PC, 246 PC, and 273a PC.

On Friday, July 6, 2018, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and ABC Agents, in accordance with a grant from the state of California Alcoholic Beverage Control, conducted a minor decoy and shoulder tap operation. The purpose of the operation was to deter people from buying alcoholic beverages for minors and underage patrons and to catch those committing the crime.

During the course of the county wide operation, three people were issued citations for purchasing alcohol for minors out of 30 people contacted.  The minors also attempted to purchase alcohol from 8 stores, all of which denied sales to them.

Fire season is fully upon us and the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services and Health and Human Services Emergency Preparedness would like to make sure all of our residents are prepared for this seasonal danger with some updated information.

Specifically, several of our residents have recently received notifications from PG&E about their newly instituted Community Wildfire Safety Program.

This PG&E program includes an option where during critical fire situations, power may be turned off to selected areas to prevent further fires from starting and to protect our communities.  The important thing to take away from these notifications is for those residents who were notified, to be prepared for extended power outages during fire season.  PG&E and your Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services are working closely together to make sure we have the best notification plan in place.

Equally important is that all of our residents should be prepared for extended power outages just by the very nature of where we have decided to live.  Power outages from a variety of causes could occur anywhere in our county, at any time, so be prepared!

Fire Season emergencies can happen very quickly.  The best course of action is to have a plan and be prepared.
