Suspect’s Death Investigated

On June 4, 2015, at approximately 4:30 am, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies were called about a suspicious male at the 6000 block of Pony Express Trail in Pollock Pines.

When Deputies arrived, they found a white male in his 60’s inside a vehicle that did not belong to him. While arresting the uncooperative suspect, he began having medical issues. Medical personnel were immediately called and he was transported to Marshall Hospital.  The suspect subsequently died while at the hospital.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office and other local agencies are investigating this incident according to standard protocols. The suspect’s identity will be released once next of kin is notified.

 

Search warrant served at South Lake Tahoe Marijuana Dispensary

Search Warrants Executed at South Lake Tahoe Marijuana Dispensary TWC and Residence of Dispensary Owner Cody Bass

On Monday, June 1st, 2015, members of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, South Lake Tahoe Police Department, El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, California Department of Justice, South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team (SLEDNET) Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Board of Equalization (BOE) and Employment Development Department (EDD) executed search warrants at five locations relating to an investigation of the South Lake Tahoe marijuana dispensary Tahoe Wellness Collective and its owner Cody Bass concerning possible violation of tax evasion and illegal possession for sale of marijuana.

This joint investigation of TWC and Cody Bass by state, county and city law enforcement agencies has been ongoing for several months.  No one was arrested, as the investigation is still ongoing.  Investigators seized large amounts of evidence and documents which all need to be fully evaluated and audited before any decision is made as to potential charges in this case.
